About the designer...

Once Upon A String was started officially in 2010. It started as a rough idea back in 2008 and 2009 when I picked up jewelry making again. I initially started making jewelry when I was just 9 years old. I made single strand seed bead necklaces and bracelets and sold them to the customers in my parents salon. I've gone around and tried numerous crafts (knitting, latch hook, cross stitch, etc.) but ending up circling back to my first love - beads!

One day I had created a simple seed bead ring for myself and wore it to work. By the end of the week, tons of people had asked me where I got it, and where they could get one. I started making them for a few dollars each, and eventually found patterns for ones with Swarovski crystals in them. That's when the light bulb went on in my head and I realized this could take me somewhere.

I studied hard, worked long sleepless nights, and self-taught myself how to bead weave (working with just a needle, thread, and seed beads). I found that my true passion is all of the small, intricate, seed bead pieces that no one else had the patience to make. The smaller and more complicated the project, the more it intrigues me.

I also find great joy in designing custom pieces. I don't see the point in paying good money for jewelry if it isn't exactly what you want. For the same price as department store jewelry, I can work with you to create a true masterpiece! There is no need to settle for something you aren't absolutely in love with.
